Thread: New scoop

    Default New scoop

Today I cut 17" hole and mounted Boss29 type scoop. Still need to do some trim work.

I love the BOSS 429 hood scoop. Very cool scoop, but it is HUGE!

Interested to see how it looks.

It is a small version of 29 scoop.

    Default '29s on the 29th

Had to post today, the 29th, the '29 scoop, real '29 videos.
I have a white '69 Boss 429 as my wall calendar pic right now.
And a 1970 Grabber Blue 1/18 die cast.
The white car has a white scoop, the blue car has a black scoop.
Ford and Mopar designers were not shy with scoop size back then.

    Good pick. Fits well proportionally.

Save the hood cutout in case you want to do something else.
Did that once to my VW when i cut out a large custom made canvas sunroof.
Years later, reinstalled tha sheet metal and installed a flip up sunroof.
Everybody laughed and said how did i do that? Came out great.

Yes I saved the hood plug.
My scoop is 27"X22.5"X3" vs Boss 429 is 32"X24"X4.5"
I went with this scoop from RS Race Scoops on ebay.
Scoop is well made and I would recommend this scoop.

Prob paint it blue like the hood? Even black would work.

Had to add the pace car rear spoiler to my 79 to sort of balance out the side look of the car with stock Cobra scoop.
Many cars that had scoops or some type of performance hood also offered or came with spoilers.

Nice job, overall proportions, and fit. Good to know there is a tasteful alternative for clearance.
I like it. Looks just mean enough without overdoing anything.

Ever get a chance, would really like to see the scoop from the drivers or pass seat view.
