Anyone here taken their 79 5.0 and converted it to a serpentine set-up? Curious what all is involved. Thanks

Jon, our Blue 79 302 auto with AC has a serpentine currently. I expected it came with it. Did some do and some don’t? I can’t think this would have been updated or modified by the looks of the rest of the car but can’t confirm myself right now.

Looks like I'm mistaken about 79 only. Here's what I'll be working with. It's an 82 with an unknown 302 with a v belt set up in it.
anyone converted one like this to look like Darran's above.
Thanks
Yes, I have converted older V belt SBF to the serpentine belt setup. What specifically is your question?

What all is involved in the swap?
I have not done one but I would think the ac compressor would be the hardest part. Next is the power steering but the later version is readily available with pumps and brackets. The water pump rotation needs to be looked into. I think it is reversed.
The rest is swapping out pulleys I believe.

The swap is not difficult. Everything should bolt on a line up if using OEM or OEM replacement parts. There are some differences between the 79-93 year models with the majority being broken down into 79-84 and 85-93 generally although there are still some difference with the 79-84 models.
Making sure that you have the correct rotation water pump is generally the biggest issue. Do you have a parts car you are using or are you trying to source everything at this point?

Thanks, guys. I think I'll be able to source the parts without any issue. Almost makes me wonder if it'd take less time to find an 82-85 motor instead. I'll be getting my hands dirty on this one.
