    Default 1984 Ford LTD (LT'SLEAZE) 7's for under $3000?

What I know about the car... It sat at a little used car dealership/shop for years. It was the owners car. I tried buying it for the longest time, but he wouldn't sell it. I'm not sure, but I THINK me might of been the original owner. Then once day I noticed it was gone... I guess he sold it to somebody else.

The guy he sold it to, took it home and parked it for another year or so, not driving it.... One day the county came by and was brush hogging the ditches or whatever, and threw a rock through the back side winder. The guy decided he didn't mess it anymore.

This guy named Richard ended up buying it it. Richard took the car home and tinkered around it it. He had the back winder replaced, changed the battery cables, and did little things like that.... Just giving her a little love. But his health started failing recently and hes out of work, so he decided to sell the car. He listed it on market place for 1200... I watched it for about a week, and then he lowered his price to 1000 (theres not a lot of love for these cars lol.)

Finally yesterday, I couldn't stand it anymore. I wanted it.... So I send him a message last night asking if I could look at it today. He said sure, come buy.... So I ran to the bank and grabbed some monies this money and went and looked at the car. The interior is super clean for an 84. The exterior is pretty dang decent as well. The strut towers are mint, so is the underside of car. I asked him if a guy had cash, would the price be negotiable? He told me to throw out a price. I told him to give me his lowest dollar. He said 850. I said 750. He said 800... I said that I was stuck at $750.... He said "you got cash." I told him I didn't make cash offers without it.... so yeah, $750 dollars later and she was mine.

Runs and drives good. Shocks aren't the best in the world and tire are dry rotted, but she still cruises down the road pretty dang good.

I had a bunch of parts for my 86 mustang gt, but I ended up selling it, so I'm going to use most of those parts on the LTD. I'm going to get this thing into the high 7's for under $3000 (INCLUDING THE PRICE OF THE CAR. I'm going to keep track of every penny I spend on the car. So far this is what I got.

    $750 - LTD

    $35 Recover Headliner

    $200 - 98 explorer gt40p motor I got it from a friend.

    $60 99 v6 t5... Pick n pull half price day.

$125 8.8 with 3:73 gears (will probably go with 4:56 later on.)

$75 fox oil pan, front accessories, and double hump cross member. (got from a bulk trade, but this seems to be the average price.)

$20 I got a muffler shop style h-pipe from my old fox. I tried selling it before for $20 bucks with no bites...

    $60 10 hole wheels

That's where I am now. I'm still looking for some parts, if anybody has any of the following that they want to get rid of fairly cheap let me know.

    650ish double pumper carb.

Stealth intake (or similar - mid rise dual plane)

Cam - tfs1, b/e/f303, n-41, etc (something that would work decent with gt40p combo)

    sn95 5.0 bellhousing

    Upper and lower control arms

So that's the plan for the car. I'm going to keep the exterior and interior stock appearing.

Looks really nice. Especially the interior like you mentioned.

What engine is in it currently?

Your plans are exactly what I’m doing with mine! Except I started with a factory v8, beautiful car and can’t wait to see it finished

So the interior of the LT'SLEAZE was pretty nice... except for the headliner. It was pretty torn up, and needed some love.

After a quick inter-web search, I found out that Joann Fabric sells headliner material (and found a 40% off coupon in the process!) I called them up and asked if they had any tan headliner material in stock, and the lady said they did. I did a quick measurement of how much material I needed at headed that way.

I walked around the store for about 10 minutes before I found what I was looking for... I'm not a super picky person, tan is tan enough, but I must admit.... I was pretty excited to see the color looked like it would be just about perfect.

I carried the roll up to the cutting station and waited until my number was called. The lady asked how many yards I needed. I explained that I was out element, and wasn't exactly sure how they measured a yard "was it 36" x 36"?) She chuckled and said each yard was the width of the roll, and 36" long,... OHHHHHHHH.... I had her cut me off 2 yards (width of the material and 72 inches lol), and was good to go. The material was 14.99 a yard, but with the 40% coupon it came out to about 20 bucks for 2 yards!

I stopped by autozone on the way home and grabbed a can of headliner adhesive for 12 bucks... 1 can was just enough!

Luckily the headliner "board" was still in good shape. I decided to delete the sunvisor (I never use them.) I just taped over the holes so they wouldn't be visible though the material.

    Nice, really clean interior.

I think the droop was std on the LTD's. My parents had 2 , 84 and 86 and both had droops relatively early,
where my 86 Capri (also bought new) never did (although I redid that headliner due to back seaters somehow
getting dirt all over the roof constantly).

Looks great! Now make sure you don't touch it. Fight the urge! I did the Jo Ann headliner too, and mine is sagging already because i touched it too much. Braced myself against it while trying to do other work in the interior. It did not take kindly to that, so now I have to do it again.

Car looks really nice overall. I redid the headline in my wife's Saturn wagon this past summer with the exact same material. I used the 3M headliner adhesive and so far it is holding up well. It is amazing how much of a difference fixing something like that can make.

Next step is to refinish the 10 hole wheels I picked up and get some decent tires put on those. It's suppose to be nice new years days (for Missouri), so I'm hoping to get a few things done then.

It's pretty cold here in central Missouri, high temps in the teens... but I really wanted to start making some project on the old LT'SLEAZE.

I decided to start with the rear end. I have a 8.8" with 3:73 gears, figured I would go ahead and toss that thing in.

I quickly turned into a popsicle so while I did get the 7.5 out, I didn't get the 8.8 back in. Oh well.

I did do a video, but it was cold so honestly I didn't film as much as I wanted to.

I had some 10 holes but the clear coat was trashed on them. I thought about having them blasted, and then spend lots of time polishing them up... but this is a no fuss budget build... soooo, I decided that I was just going to scuff the wheels up and paint them.

I was tossing around the idea of painting the wheels black and leaving the center caps stock... but I wasn't sure how they would go with the beige color...

Then I thought about going with a gun metal gray and just leaving the center caps off.... but neither would look stock'ish.

Then this morning a crazy thought popped up in my head.... color match the wheels to the car, and leave the center caps stock. I never seen beige 10 holes, and thought it would be something different.... and a grandpa'ish thing to do. I literally got up and went to lowes and a found a color that was close (close enough), and bought a can of it... and also a can of black (just in case.)

The color is a semi gloss... paint came out pretty good, and it hides a lot of the defects in the wheels.... I'm going to polish up the center caps, but I really like it... Now I just need to figure out what size tires I'm going to run, and get them ordered.. For I gave 4 bucks for the can of paint, and had a few scotch bright pads laying around. It thing I spent about 2 hours doing them...

It's definitely a love it or hate it thing. I love it, thing it fits really well with the theme of the car... Let me know what you guys thing.
