Default To Tub or widen factory tubs?

The 86 GT Fast Back is at the point where it is entirely stripped and all frame rails done. I either leave the stock tubs alone, gut and go aftermarket tubs, or cut out and widen the factory tubs.

    Situational Factors:
    1) Deleting all factory shocks and springs. going with coil overs relocated, pan hard bar and will relocating all mounting points on rear axle housing as needed while out and on the bench before powder coating. (I'll appropriate dive deeper into the suspension aspects in that forum.)
    2) "wish" to retain interior body panels & rear seat.
    3) 5 lug rear and disk breaks yes.
No, I intentionally do not mention tire size so as to keep that open for suggestions / recommendations based on 1&2.

    please advise
    I appreciate all you do!

I would only ask why you want / need wider tubs?

Considering with some mild tweaking you can fit a 315/35/17 in the factory wheel openings I question why you're looking at tubs unless its a drag car.
