Default Leather 3 spoke steering wheel?

Did any Mustang/Capri other than the SVO ever get a leather 3 spoke wheel? I don't think so, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

By "3-spoke steering wheel" do you mean only the 1984-86 style steering wheel?

Yes. I was wondering if it was a bit more common (leather) than it appeared to be. Guess not.

Best advice is get a base model LX steering wheel and horn pad and then order a steering wheel and horn pad leather wrap from here: https://www.redlinegoods.com/Mustang7986shiftboot.php Good Luck!

My RST has a 3 spoke, just not leather. I’m attempting to class it up a bit. I have a leather shift knob and boots are available too. The wheels are hard to find, at least decent ones are.

The link I posted above will work for your steering wheel.

For 85-86 for sure .... only the cars without cruise had a three spoke wheel

Its funny — ends up being whatever you get used to that you end up preferring.

youll get a chuckle from this

I like my 85-86 wheel with cruise best, but after putting 1/2 million miles on my 86 I find that the steering wheel texture that’s long gone from my old 86 wheel drives me crazy any time I’m driving other 85-86 cars.

And worse yet when my steering column broke my wheel was being a complete bitch about coming off the column shaft on the broken column even with good tools. Unfortunately the parts car I got my replacement column from only had about 60K miles and they must have been highway as the texture bumps on the wheel I’m stuck with are way more pronounced than they ever were when I first got my car at 78K in the 1990’s.

Oh — and my 85 that Trey is working on has even more pronounced steering wheel texture yet. Guess I better get used to it!

Is there a "best" way to clean interior stuff like arm rests and horn pads? I've got some stuff that's kinda sticky and nasty from age/basement storage/whatever.

You can try some Dawn dish soap mixed with water in a spray bottle with a soft bristle brush.
if that doesn’t cut it try Simple Green or something called Tuff-Stuff. It’s in a yellow can I believe. Auto Zone & Advance usually have it. Good luck.

For old plastics, I run them down with Vaseline, especially if they are brittle. Plastics are oil based and you can usually make them a ton better.

I use TuffStuff on dirty plastics. Even do a second round with a scrub brush. It will get most of the dirt off. If you have something else then move up to something solvent based like alcohol or mineral spirits. Goof off works well too. I leave the prepaint solvents until last as they often remove the paint.
