Default HVAC Control wont move to A/C

I recently acquired a 1986 V6 coupe that came from the factory with A/C. I am working on getting the A/C working. Currently the blower motor does not blow and the HVAC control lever will not move from heat to A/C. The lever moves half way and stops. I should be able to figure out the blower but does anyone have any ideas on what I can check regarding the lever or do I just need to look for a replacement switch? Thanks, Cody

You need a new hvac panel. There is a sliding block in the back but the support frame breaks making it useless. You can play with it to get it to move but it will not be held in place to make the vacuum signal switching.

that makes sense. I pulled the panel out and I can see a block that physically keeps the lever from moving more than half way down.

What are some options for sourcing a new panel? 4eyed classifieds, ebay and junk yard are all I am aware of...

    thanks!

Late 83-86 HVAC control panels will interchange with your current panel. There are some differences in the wording of the panels thru the years. The Late 83-86 all use the red back lighting. The earlier panels use the blue lighting. I would recommend posting a WTB in the correct Classified section. If you include a picture of your panel that will help anyone that has a panel available to verify if their panel matches yours. I have a couple of panels, so I might have what you need. Good Luck!

Update...I was able to get a panel using the WTB section. Now the blower motor works and power is getting to the A/C compressor and I have cold A/C! Thanks for the help

That is a very nice blue interior. Is the radio dealer installed?

Thanks, as far as I know it was dealer installed. I am the second owner and the car was not modified at all.
