Default New 82 GT Owner with Questions!

Hello, I have just purchased an 82 GT and am needing some expert help with a couple of questions. My 82 GT is the Medium Red with T-tops. My first question is what was the factory original color for the fake louvers behind the rear quarter windows? It seems that some pictures of 82 GTs that I see have the fake louvers in body color (so Medium Red in my example), and some have them in black. For the record, on my 82 GT T-top car the fake louvers are black. If I want to make them factory original color, which is correct?

Second, can anyone tell me what car the wheel flare in front of the rear wheel on the 82 GT below is from?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Welcome and congrats on your purchase. It looks like a nice car

When these came out, the monochromatic styling was in full force. About the only thing on the car that wasn't body color was the side mirrors, window trim, door handles & locks, and body side molding. The sail panel behind the side windows is body color on the 82 GT. The flare, or wheel spat, looks to be from a 84-86 Mustang SVO. That seems to balance the look of a front air-dam equipped car.

Thanks very much for the reply - just to clarify, the car pictured isn't mine; I found that pic and was curious about the wheel flare. Mine is the same color, but is a T-top car. Thanks again.

My hard top car was body colored panels, that wheel spat kinda looks like a SVO Mustang part.

This should be correct for an 82 GT T-Top:

And the "spats" in front of the rear wheels are indeed SVO:

    1982 Mustang GT T-Top 302 / 4spd
    1986 SVO Mustang - 1C

Blue 79 hatch had black sails. I soda blasted them, no other color under the black. Car only had 1 repaint.
