What is original? 1979 Mustang Hatch Ghia

Hi,

I have two questions

I rescued a 1979 5.0 hatch back Ghia which was headed to the bone yard. The previous owner butchered it. I wont go into the gory details however I am trying to find out what style of steering wheel was OEM (new). Right now its a black plain wheel with 3 spokes and the centre cap is black with silver spoke design. A tiny blue ford logo is in the centre.

My other question is about the Ghia emblem that went on the rear hatch lid. Is it the same as the Ghia emblems used on the 74-78 Mustang II's ???

795.0pacecar I think that wheel is a $140 upgrade .
I thought the ghia had a different wheel .
Like a 4 spoke with a square center cap .
Maybe that was with cruise . I don't know .

The 4 spoke with the rectangular pad in the middle is what my pace car has and it has cruise. The one in the pic I believe is the correct one for a car non equipped with cruise.

Heres a cruise controll wheel. Both of the wheels I put up are $319.

That is the wheel I have on my pace car. Keep in mind for that price you are only getting the wheel though right? Not the center cover.

The square-center four-spoke was on my '81 Ghia w/cruise.

Regarding the emblem, I don't recall one on the hatch lid. I remember the small emblems in the quarter windows.

My hatch came with Ghia door panels and light group along with the rear window wiper etc.. My books say both hatch and coupe were offered as ghia in 79

Is the horn on the steering wheel or on the turn signal.

NO mach 1 in 79 .
I think Ghia was coupe or hatch .

Horn was in the stalk, and laughably ineffective.

As previously posted, the Ghia was offered as both a coupe and a hatchback, and was the top of the line in luxury. Also, there were no Mach I's in any of the Fox Bodied models, spanning the entire run between 1979-1993.

A friend of mine has a 79 ghia and it comes back as a mach 1.Ford's bad habit miss stamp the vin number

I've got a '79 Ghia as well... it was pretty minty when I got it. Only 99,000 original km and I'm the third owner. I've got no power options but I have the vinyl interior, no rear wiper and the 302. Also I've got the stalk mounted horn and the three spoke wheen in the pic in this thread. i have a 79 mustang ghia and it has the square center with four spoke steering wheel with the cruise in the steering wheel and the horn by pushing in the blinker arm. mine is a coupe with vinyl top, 302 with c-4(originally). i bought this car from my mother and it was 100% original and well taken care of.

hey all,just to let you all know I have the wheel with 4 spokes and rectanguler cap in both cruise and noncruise versions only difference the cruise one is a hard plastic noncruise a rubber type material. both were in 82 stangs
