Oh my! I wonder when we'll see the first transplants into a hotrod!
Thoughts?

I'm just praying it will fit in a foxbody.

So after reading the article... this is the direction the Pace Car will go. Finally a real plan is coming into view. Should be a truly amazing platform.

I'm curious how well the stock heads flow. It would be nice to have well over 500hp with just a cam swap and a few minor mods.
79 Pace Car - 331, t5
79 Pace Car- 302, 4 spd
79 Cobra - working on 351w, t5
82 Capri- working on 302, t5
82gt - working on 408w, c4
It sure will be interesting to see what the aftermarket does with it, and what happens in the way of affordability (not a Coyote strong suit). I'm pretty sure my future '70-71 Cyclone project needs this.

I wonder what bellhousing pattern the engine will have. Not that adapter can't be made for it, but if the bellhousing is the same as the PSD that will limit or only add to the costs of fitting it with transmissions that might fit in a Fox body or even older Ford iron. If the aftermarket embraces the engine with High Performance parts and possibly intakes, etc. then it will definitely help. Otherwise it will be a bit more difficult to transplant without all the OEM wiring or require a complete stand alone system to operate. Definitely cool and has potential, but time will tell.

They do say it will have the same 10-speed the F-150 gets, so that's something.
But yeah, the wiring and computer is an issue. You can't just grab that stuff out of a donor vehicle and slap it in anymore. All those integrated systems and stuff. It's not as if people aren't doing that stuff now though. I've never attempted anything like that myself.

The basic 10 speed design is used in the F150, Expedition, Super Duty, and Mustang. Maybe even in a couple others. This was the joint transmission developed with GM. All the reviews I have seen are excellent for the transmission, its just a matter of how large it is and will it fit in a Fox or other Non Truck applications. If the bellhousing pattern matches the Mod Motors/Coyotes then your transmission choices really open up at that point.

Ill never, ever again go OHC. Post #10 covers how Ford has regrouped WCP Yates 4.375, Chev/Ford SVO/Mopar 4.46, FR9 4.50 and now Hurricane/Triton 4.527 Dancin Knitting Needle Tecnology in a sub 4.63 FE size non big block base.
DOHC tech is a Heretic Backward Step. Its capacity wasting, and hurts low end torque.
Time for a FPRP 32 valve head with Viper 8.3 style VVT central camshaft

Ooops. FVPR. The 32 valve Windsor based 4v per Cylinder Dominion/Aaro-style heads.
The rub back then was a 4.375 bore center engine physically the same size as a 3.937 5.0 Modular 32 valve DOHC can carry another 66 cubic inches with siamese bores and the same deck height.
