    Default FI Tech fuel system

Hello all, I am installing an external fuel system for my fuel injection. The instructions are clear that I have to upgrade the 5/16 fuel pickup inside my tank to 3/8”. Being I have a 79pace car, these had specific tanks and sending units. My questions are
Has anyone installed FI Tech on a 79/81 Mustang?
Has anyone done an upgrade to 3/8” line?
If not, what have you done instead?

    Thanks everyone.

What are you doing for a fuel pump? Inline or in-tank? I believe the most common way is to buy or fab a "sump" with npt threaded bungs for send and return. Use an inline pump. Run braided steel or solid tubing line. Tie in the appropriate inline filter(s) and that's it. You buy NPT to AN adapter fittings to go from the sump or they may even have some bungs with AN fittings.

The in-tank fuel pumps are much nicer. They're quiet and protected from heat and road debris, but usually more expensive. And of course, a little harder to service.

I installed a Fitech system on my '80 Fairmont. I had my fuel tank modified with a 1/2" pickup tube and a 3/8" return(AN fittings).

I purchased the inline kit from Fitech. It looks like everyone here has upgraded to 3/8”.

Well I guess I know what I need to do.

My supply is 1/2" from the tank to the pump, 3/8" forward. Return line is all 3/8". I bent and flared(AN) my own lines. The last 12" in the engine compartment is braided ss. You may want to look into a banjo or 90 deg fitting at the throttle body in order to fit an air cleaner. I used an oem dual snorkel, but raised it up with a spacer. Still fits under the hood(Fairmont).
