    Post Front/Rear Accessory Reserve Load

    Hey guys,
    Found this site extremely helpful in decoding a '79 Hatch Ghia 5.0 we are soon to be dragging off the farm to be my boys (9 and 10 years old) first car and a father son project vehicle.

    Question regarding the tag info... What is the Front/Rear Accessory Reserve Load? appears to be a measurement in lbs. This car reads F0000 and R0045.

    Thanks, and will get an intro and some photos up once we get it home!

    Also... the sales district reads 58 which I found to be "American Red Cross district sales office"
    Any idea what that might tell me?

    The 'accessory reserve load' represents the allowable weight (in pounds) for permanent accessories or equipment that may be added without exceeding the gross axle weight rating (GAWR). GAWR, and the corresponding accessory reserve load, could have been higher or lower depending on which suspension coil springs were installed at the factory.

    District sales office (DSO) 58 is Twin Cities. American Red Cross districts sales office is 85.

    Thanks! I had my dyslexia kick in on that one. Haha. Twin Cities I assume to be Minneapolis St. Paul? Makes sense that it's in ND then. Door tag coming... phone is arguing with me.

    I think I was able to pretty much decode everything through some searching.

    Yes, "Twin Cities" is a region in in MN.

    Cars are not built in order by VIN so 108156 would not be the 8,156th built but rather the 8,156 assigned a VIN.

    Here is from my decoders...

    VIN
    9 = 1979 model year
    F = Dearborn Assembly
    05 = Mustang Ghia 3-dr sedan (hatchback)
    F = 5.0L V8 engine
    108156 = 8,156th 1979 Ford scheduled for production at Dearborn Assembly

    Door Tag
    Date - 08-78 = August 1978 build
    GVWR - 3909 lb/1773 kg = gross vehicle weight rating
    Front GAWR - 2110 lb/957 kg = front gross axle weight rating
    Rear GAWR - 1819 lb/825 kg = rear gross axle weight rating
    F0000 = 0000 lbs front accessory reserve load
    R0045 = 0045 lbs rear accessory reserve load
    Exterior Paint Colors - 64 = Bright Yellow
    DSO - 58 = Twin Cities district sales office
    Body - 61H = Mustang Ghia 3-dr sedan (hatchback)
    Int Trim - FA = cloth & vinyl seating, low-back front buckets (F), Black interior trim color (A)
    AC - A = manual air conditioner
    R - [blank] = no radio?
    S - [blank] = no sunroof
    Ax - B = 2.47:1 axle ratio, conventional (non-locking) differential
    Tr - W = C-4 automatic transmission
    77 = front springs
    GG = rear springs

    Awesome! More info than I had! But looks like my research was fairly correct!
    Odd that a ghia would have no radio? It has one now, appears to be era aftermarket from what I recall.

    I have found that a blank code in the radio column on the early (1979-1981) door tags does not necessarily mean no radio. I do not know why the code is sometimes missing even through there was a radio ordered.

    Ghias did not get a standard radio. Only the 1979 Pace Car did, from 1979-81.
