so my sample with the special gray arrived today and I compared it to the trim I painted with sem 39153 and it is very close.....inside looks identical...outside in the sun it appears the sem 39153 may have more of a blueish tint.....not sure, but looks like I'll be the test subject, it's close enough that I think I'm gonna try it...…….wish me luck!!!

I forgot that I had a few albums still here on FEP. Here are a few pics of my former 86 with the decal:

It's close in color, but you can see the shade differences between the edge of the hood and the cowl grill cover....

So is that the graphic -express "special grey decal"? and your trim is painted with sem 39153? if that's the case, that's not hateful, I can live with that!!

Pretty sure I went with the charcoal decal from GE. The sem is the same as what I used, 39153

the Charcoal as they have it listed is "CHARCOAL BLACK (FLAT) THE GREY AS THEY HAVE IT LISTED IS : DARK GRAY (SPECIAL) (RARE) which is closer to the 39153 sem...... so you ordered the Charcoal black not the special grey?

I don't remember precisely where and apologize that its a lot of pages but I know in my 85 Saleen clone build thread Trey states precisely what paint he used for the charcoal trim.

IMO - It is a dead on match vs factory.

thanks.......I'm not gonna paint it.....I do all my own painting and if it were a different time of year, I'd paint it in my make shift booth....but to hot and to many bugs this time of year, it looks like the special grey sticker is close...we shall see

so i ended up putting the sticker on special grey and it looks okay but definately not a match to the sem 39153 that I painted the rest of the trim and cowl but it's as close as you're gonna get unless you paint the hood decal on with the stencil kit using the same paint as you do for the trim.......if i were doing a 100% correct resto i'd of done that and had it been a different time of year so as to of been able to use my make shift booth without fear of bugs getting in the paint...none the less the car looks good and resto is finally done!!
