Thread: T-Top question

  1. #1

    Default T-Top question

Does anyone have a photo of how the A-pillar weather strip should look installed. I think the C-channel is bent because the gasket has a gap between the A-pillar and gasket.
    Thank you

Here is a picture of my 83. Keep in mind there are slight differences between the years. I have 3 t-top cars at the moment and they are all slightly different.

There are plastic plugs to retain the lower part of the seal on the A pillar. As you move up the A pillar it appears to use an adhesive to stay in the channel. I can't quite tell where yours is going wrong from that pic but hopefully these pics help you out.

so it should tuck under my silver trim not lay over it?

It should fit snug over the C-Channel and tuck under the drip rail on your A pillar but over your door glass when the door is closed.

Here are some pics of an earlier car with a shorter piece of weather strip (Nov 81 if I recall correctly). I know it is hard to see with the wet / black.

Sealing / adjusting these old T-Top cars is such a hassle but they are soooooo cool.

The glass channel run sits out site the new gasket...leaving an air gap. Any help would be appreciated.

The channel strip is being pushed out by the A pillar strip. I am so frustrated.

So is it just going to take time to break in the new gasket? Also I can get the window set into the gasket when the door is closed but window wont go up if I roll it down with the door closed.
