    Default 1985 Mustang Dominator GT

    $8,999 OBO - Olathe, KS

Yes, this is a verified genuine Dominator. I've owned this car for about a year. Below is a comprehensive list of what has been done to the car and what parts will come with the car. I've added some outside shots I took this weekend, and I will add some interior shots as soon as I can.

This was Steve Koger's (Bluesfannoz) car that I purchased from him last year. All of the work done on it was done by him or me. You can hit him up for details on the engine and trans rebuild as well as a lot of the parts that come with it.

There is some work the car needs to be perfect, but overall it is a good car that is worth putting some effort into. I have decided that I can't giver her the time she deserves while trying to maintain and operate a road course track day car as well.

    See below for the details:

1985 mustang GT Dominator Work Done/Parts Purchased

    • Car was repainted in 2012, some minor rust issues were repaired
    • Engine was removed and rebuilt .030 over pistons installed Replacement OEM roller camshaft 2012
    • 1.7 Roller Rockers only non-Factory internal engine parts
    • New fuel pump
    • New Oil pump
    • T-5 transmission was rebuilt by Dan the T-5 Man from Lees Summit, MO 2012
    • Replacement Vintage Hooker super comp long tube headers connected to hollowed out catalytic converter and vintage OEM mufflers installed by Original guy who installed headers for Summit Ford, Ball & Flange connectors allow exhaust to be disconnected
    • OEM Distributor replaced with NOS Ford Distributor from 82. Steel gear installed on distributor for Roller cam
    • Cometic Head gaskets installed and heads cleaned up with minor port job
    • Front Lower control arms replaced with LMR pieces
    • New ball joints and bushings
    • Ford Racing B springs
    • Gabriel shocks and Struts
    • New rack and pinion installed
    • All new seals for hatch, t-tops, doors, and windows
    • 4180C Carb Rebuilt
    • Plastic spacer below carb to reduce Vapor Lock
    • New Alternator
    • Driver seat had a small tear all the outside which was sewn up by previous owner. I would give it a 3 out of 5
    • Needs Dash Pad
    • Missing headliner Vinyl - Nobody can match it. Have samples Replacement is Cloth
    • New OEM Radiator
    • Restored Coolant/Wiper Reservoir
    • Restored Brake Cylinder Cover
    • Replacement T-Top bags
    • Replaced hooks for back hatch cover
    • Heater core bypassed
    • Air Pump bypassed
    • Emissions controls bypassed
    • Recent rear brake shoes, drums, and wheel cylinders
      • Pedal is still too soft. May need to replace hard lines. I have purchased some and am ready to install them

    • Car has an OEM rear hatch sun shade

    Parts Purchased/Included with car

    • New Old Stock (NOS) air cleaner assembly
    • Also included is a used nice condition 85 air cleaner lid from my red 85
    • New Old Stock re-manufactured fuel pump
    • New Ford Racing Aluminum Drive Shaft
    • Thunderbird Turbo Coupe 8.8 rear end
      • This has been disassembled to rebuild and prepare to put into the Dominator - Dissembled only at this time
      • Included used disc brake hardware and North Race Car caliper brackets to keep stock offset @ axle flange
      • New hardware included for rear-disc conversion
        • Master Cylinder
        • Adjustable proportioning valve

      • T-Bird rear end needs to be slightly modified to accept quad shock mounting.
      • Midwest Mustang will swap me an 86-93 mustang 8.8 for direct bolt in. I give them the Turbo coupe housing and $150 and I get a mustang housing. Seems like an easy way to get the correct setup
      • I would rebuild the diff as I have no idea how many miles on it
      • I also have a used 31 spline 8.8 trak-lok diff (55k miles) and a brand new set of Ford Racing 3.73 gears to go with the car for the right price
      • Used set of Ford Racing 3.27 gears for 8.8

    • (2) Extra factory 85 carburetors for parts
    • (2) Ford Motorsport/MSD ignition boxes that plug into the factory harness but still has an MSD rev control built in with changeable modules – Includes Coil
      • These units bought to be backups for the original unit still on the car. Completely plug-N-play
      • New ignition harness for the duraspark/msd box

    • Rear brake lines
      • Purchased a new stainless steel rear axle hard line crossover. Also purchased the flex line that runs from the axle housing to the body

    • Miscellaneous brake hard parts
      • Spring kits
      • E-Brake cables
      • Shoes

    • Wheels
      • Car rides on 10-holes – Tires are good BFG
      • Includes a set of 4 16” ARE mesh wheels with rivets/studs around perimeter. Mesh is black, lip is machined. Tires worn

    • (2) Ford heater cores
      • 1new
      • 1 New Old Stock
      • I bought the first one because the car needs it. I bought the second when I saw the ford units were going to be discontinued

    • Miscellaneous
      • Pro 5.0 shifter handle
      • 5 Speed shifter balls – 1 machined aluminum finish 1 black plastic
      • Door hinge repair kits
      • There is a large amount of miscellaneous parts that will go with the car but are not cataloged
      • Original radio and speakers included
        • I have no idea if they work or not

    Car Needs

    • Patching in the floor pans – There is at least one quarter size hole in passenger foot well
      • This is very common being a t-top car.
      • No evidence of bad rust anywhere else
      • Front frame rails are mildly rusty, but can certainly can be cleaned/blasted and coated to stop any future issues. No metal loss here.

    • Rear Axle
      • Pinion seal leaks and leaves oil. The rear end needs to be serviced. The plan was to swap to an 8.8 which is why I haven’t tackled anything on it so far
        • I am considering replacing the pinion seal if that helps a sale

      • Rear end needs to be rebuilt and resealed
        • Recommend going to an 8.8. All parts are included that can convert the car to an 8.8 with disc brakes and 3.73 gears

    • Interior
      • Seats need recovered and new foam
        • Correct material is available from SMS Auto Fabrics in Canby, OR
        • I have samples
        • Foam can be purchased from TMI

      • I would pull all interior panels and dye them fresh for a clean, new, uniform look
      • Carpet should be replaced
        • It’s not terrible, but if you’re looking for perfection you would want to. Many people will find it to be fine, though

      • Dash pad is cracked in several places
        • There is a company that takes these and restores them to factory look using modern materials – Cost to do so is about $500 without paint/color match - $700 with color match - http://www.justdashes.com/2014/01/19...d-restoration/
        • Dash hull has a crack by the radio. Many people on the forums have indicated these can be fixed well enough it is almost unnoticeable – May be worth a shot

      • Center console lid is broken – Needs replaced
      • Headliner needs replaced
        • It would be best to replace with a material covered ABS unit available these days. The original vinyl material is obsolete and no one seems to have any old stock of it

      • Door panels
        • Original door panels have been cut for speakers and are in bad shape
        • I have a set of used panels with no holes that can be restored using parts available from LMR including backer boards and lower carpet. This should be a fairly straight forward restoration

      • HVAC
        • Needs both the heater core and the evaporator core replaced under the dash
        • All AC components should be replaced if you want a working AC. All wiring is in place, and if new hardware is installed, there is no reason this shouldn’t blow cold air
          • Compressor
          • Receiver/dryer
          • Lines
          • Condenser

      • Weather seals
        • Some new seals have been installed, others have not.
          • T-Tops are partially done
          • Door seals were replaced with lower quality seals making the doors hard to close – Nicer seals like Steele Rubber Products should fix that issue

      • I would patch the floor pan where required and then mitigate the frame rail rust with a POR 15 or something similar. Taking these small steps would ensure the longevity of this car
      • Radiator core support is bent on the bottom. It may be able to be straightened, or it may need to be replaced. Part is cheap, and labor should be fairly easy for this one. No functionality issues, it just looks bad looking up from the bottom.

Guys this is a Great Buy! I only sold the car because of back issues which no longer allowed me to enjoy it or work on it. I wanted someone else with a love for these cars to be able to enjoy it!

I just wanted to give an update. This weekend I replaced the pinion seal along with the pinion bearings, carrier bearings, axle bearings and axle seals. The rear end is good to go (at least as good to go as a stock 7.5 can be).

Also, I have had several contacts regarding selling the wheels separately. I appreciate the interest, but I am not looking to separate anything. If the car doesn't sell, I will be digging into this winter to get her in the shape she deserves. Part of that will be the ARE wheels.

Sorry, I just saw your post this morning. The odometer reads 24k and change, so I'm assuming 124K on the body. I don't have any way of verifying that though.
