The 88-93 convertibles and the 1988 T-top Mustangs used a different mirror and the glass extends all the way to the leading edge of the door. Very different setup than the 83-87 models which uses the standard window frame mounted mirror and has the additional window frame at the leading edge of the door. That accounts for the HUGE difference in the weatherstripping.

I don't know where you purchased your weatherstripping from, but my experience with LMR is that their weatherstripping for T-tops is not the Daniel Carpenter versions. I am not sure if that is still true because I haven't purchased a kit from them lately. Anyway, in my experience the NON Daniel Carpenter weatherstripping doesn't fit for SH#T! I would assume the same is true for the convertible kits. The only weatherstripping I will buy from LMR is the standard door opening, hatch, trunk, and exterior dew wipes. Haven't had any real issues with those. I plan on buying ONLY the Daniel Carpenter T-top kit for my 82 RS, my 84 RS, my 82 GT, and my 81 BM.
This most likely is what you need.

I am sure you don't want to buy the whole kit, but hopefully the list may help you determine which parts you may need. Notice this is listed as 83-84 model convertibles, NOT 83-86!
