Default My rear end is binding

figured that would get some looks and laughs...
But seriously, 1982 Capri 5.0 with 4 speed SROD and 7.5 3.08 rear end in it.
I have had this binding noise for a little while now but it is getting noticeably worse. It is a binding type noise. Not the howl of a wheel bearing going out.
Typically when turning at slow speeds and for sure when backing up.

Last weekend, I replaced the output shaft bushing and seal on the trans and then also the pinion seal as it was leaking.
Job went smooth and I added fluid back into the diff until it ran out the hole when the car was level.

This noise has been present prior to last weekends repairs but it seems to be increasing.
    Thoughts?
I probably should have drained the diff completely when I did the pinion seal but I didn't.
I use synthetic 75-90 in trans and diff.

    Thanks for any help...

My first thought was you need more fiber in your diet.

Now for the car, What was the underlying cause for the pinion seal leak. Possibly you may have an issue with a pinion bearing. Also, it's easy for the pinion nut to be over tightened after a seal change causing too much preload on the bearings. If the bearing was the initial problem causing the leak, tightening the preload up would make the issue worse. When backing up, the reverse rotation actually loads the front pinion bearing more which might be the one you have a problem with and thus the more noticeable noise and the leak.

When in doubt, add friction modifier.

The original 7.5 in my 84 would do something similar when reversing to the left, felt like something was catching inside the differential. I changed the fluid and added the Ford friction modifier, but it still did the same thing. I eventually upgraded to a rebuilt 8.8.
