Default Replacing brake master cylinder and booster

Hey guys, I am replacing my MC and booster on my 85 GT, these are original to the car. I have never replaced a MC, looks pretty straight forward, is there anything I need to know. like rebuilt vs. new? And also is "synthetic" brake fluid different or is it all the same?

    Thanks guys,

    Brant

Bench bleed the M/C as the instructions included with the unit will show you. I prefer to install the booster and M/C as a unit rather than individually, but your opinion may vary.

DOT 3 was the original brake fluid, I would recommend that or using DOT 4 as they are compatible. DOT 5 is not compatible with DOT 3 or 4 so you can't mix the two as they will gel. In my experience DOT 4 works just fine, is cost effective with no ill affects. I personally use 2 quarts of brake fluid and flush the entire system when replacing the M/C just to be safe. Good Luck!

I just learned the hard way about properly bench bleeding a M/C. Watch a You tube video or three. Take your time and do it the right way. Or you triple your work.....

Thank you. I will definitely watch the YouTube videos. I have always heard bench bleed but have to admit I don't know how, Lol. So I am going to try and get this done in next week or two. I hate to have to spend the money on this but brakes are kinda important.

    Thanks guys
