My gauge does not move, stays in the center, but the battery stays up. Could this just be the qauge or something else. Thanks!

The gauge is an Amp meter gauge. I have seen them read everything from virtually nothing to a couple of ticks either way. Personally not a fan of their inaccuracy IMHO. Unfortunately that is what you are stuck with in regards to stock.
I personally usually install a Volt meter in all of my cars either in the info center, or on an A pillar pod. Not sure if you want/need that, but that is how I deal with it.
