Default I'm almost scared to ask this but.....

What do you think happened here? Are these welds factory? Kind of dont think so. Should I be concerned?

Kind of think so. Cleaned 33 years of greasy dirt off of the k-member in mine yesterday morning... same ugly welds. I suppose they're good enough, which is what corporate finance/accountants/bean-counters (those that replaced engineering to the "fast track" up the "ladder" within corporations 30-some years ago) would approve of, since the k-member hasn't fallen apart or something in all this time... Concern? I'm not concerned, it's still in one piece, holding the rest in position... painted it all with semi-gloss black... looks pretty good, lol!

Ok, ya thats crazy how bad those welds look, especially the second pic. Splatter all over the place lol. Dont really care about how they look though just was more concerned with safety and whether previous owner welded up a crack. Thanks for putting my mind at ease Mike!

I pulled my k member out because I needed to replace the oil pan gasket. While out, it got a cleaning and coat of paint. The driver side looked like it had been welded by a robot. The other side looked like it was welded by a beginner. I suppose they all start somewhere.

My 86GT is an early EFI car and its K-member is much the same. One side looks good, the other like crap. But its held up for all these years and 1/2 million miles so I don't worry about it.
