Does anybody know if the 94-95 intake manifolds are any good? I installed a 94 5.0 into my capri but am wondering if I should go with the exploder intake manifold

I believe the '94-5 intakes were first designed to fit under the MN12's low hood. Explorer would be better.

The best 3 factory intakes:
https://www.google.com/search?q=ford...quxdaZ6njB2lM:
https://www.stangnet.com/mustang-for...ns-jpg.626945/
All three are junk which are constrained cfm wise at the 300 hp level. GT40P heads are more capable than the 390 hp 289 GT40 Mark III heads (just Cobra K code heads with IDA Webers). The GT40 and GT40P heads were designed to do what the 1967 English FVA built GT40 engines did in those mid engined LeMans winners. Make more than 380 hp. The EFi intakes if all types are pinch points, and statenentd that the GT40 EFi intakes support s normally aspirated 425 in Fords FRP's catalogue are not true.
Hence the name....
Best intake is the T3 Tickford 5.6 liter 342 stock bore Explorer engine.
Steve Saleens modifications to get 371 hp involved cutting, adding volume by plating it up, gasflowing and then rewelding.

Yeah, track down a Saleen intake. Should be no problem.

But I have a set of AFR 1402's and 1.6 rollers, and found a set of BBK shorty's in the pick a parts. So this week end they are having the 40% off sale so I already found an upper and lower exploder intake sitting on the ground so I hid them till I go back so I hope its still there....lol. But I just read that the early and late exploder intakes are different?

Explorer intake with the lower ported per Tom Moss’ writeup will do well, but it will Peter out at 5800.
A cobra upper or tubular GT40 upper are a shorter runner and will run past 6000 - closer to 6500
That all being said ..... your low buck winner is the Typhoon EFI. I only have $200 in mine — NEW — and it took a motor that had everything else going for it but was lazy past 5400 and made it a motor that likes to pull right up to the 6250 rev limiter. Not bad for an E6 head motor that just has a little cam in it.
Edelbrock and Trick Flow both make a higher quality intake. You pay more for the cleanup that’s left for you to do yourself on the Typhoon but those more expensive intakes don’t perform any better once the Typhoon is properly installed.
I would prefer a used Edelbrock - especially a Victor EFI — over a new Typhoon because I didn’t enjoy the cleanup I had to do with my dremel to prepare it for install. But it was CHEAP
I had pulled an Explorer intake from a 1996 Mountaineer in a yard — paid $30 for it including the throttle body. I reclocked the 65MM using the linkage bracket from my stock throttle body and hogged our my stock EGR spacer and tossed the elbow. Ran that with my stock intake for a while. Had the explorer intake hot tanked then ported it per atom moss’ writeup. I drilled and tapped the needed NPT hole then acid etched it and cleaned it up the rest of the way and coated it. I ended up selling it locally for $300 upper and lower only.
The lower you want has the EGR passage in the middle. 1996 and 1997 afaik. The 98’s didn’t have the provisions

Come to think of it I got a ford racing spacer I ended up running instead. Cost me $35
