My thought was that he's confusing 351 with 302 H.O.

Nice to leave the tow chain still attached when taking the pics. Did they originally come with TRXs?

No way. That was definitely built stock with a 351M engine three years after Ford stopped making that engine. The "M" in the VIN is all the proof in the world I need. Extremely rare care. I bet that thing runs deep into the 10's in the 1/4 mile.

Added the VIN tag, did he? Looks like 1FABP38M8FG20840x. He's obviously confused.

I sent him a link to a decoded VIN on foxchassis.com and asked him two questions. His response:

"Ok, there's the answer! Yes 140 speedo, no tach."

That's a HUGE difference! Always wondered why they did that. Automatic couldn't handle the power even though serious drag racers ALL use autos?

Camshaft/lifters, intake manifold, fuel pump, fuel delivery (carb vs fuel injection), transmission ... all different between 4V and CFI models

Roller camshaft/lifters alone were 20 HP over the flat-tappet cam/lifters.

And the 15 HP difference between the "early" and "late" Capri/Mustang CFI/AOD rating was only the exhaust system. The early (165 HP) exhaust was a carry-over from 1984...cast iron manifolds, single muffler, single tailpipe (twin tips) and the late (180 HP) exhaust was the 1985 4V/T-5 set-up (tubular manifolds, dual mufflers, dual tailpipes).
