Headlight switch

I'm installing a new switch and the line up tab on the switch is not going into the slot on the dash, the one I just took out doesn't either!!! Aren't those tabs there to prevent the whole unit from rotating? Am I missing something or is this a common issue with replacement switches?

Never had a problem with the Motorcraft replacements.

I just filed the tab a little and all is well. Was just wondering if everyone who didn't buy Motorcraft switches we're having to do the same thing or not, seems like it be worth mentioning if that was the case.
