Default Campaign to have LMR sell TRX center caps separately from wheels

Any of you that have bought the TRX replacement 16" LMR wheels have surely looked at those new center caps and said to yourself........
These have got to work on my old TRX wheels........

Well, LMR will tell you they will not....and they are correct......that is without modification........

I finally took the time to see if I could make them work.

This is all it took......removed about 1/4 inch from backside of cap......

LMR Center cap on OE wheel...........

    Which brings me my request.....

Lets start a campaign to have LMR sell the center caps separate from the wheels.

If you are like me you are always looking for a good ,or better set of caps than the ones you have.

Come on LMR......helps us out !!!!!!!

I have already gone to their website and sent in my request......what about you????????????

FWIW I asked them when I bought my rims a couple years ago about replacement caps and they said "yes, in time" but have not seen anything yet.

You would think they have sold quite a few rims already and could get some spare caps up for sale. Doesn't hurt to ask I guess.

I would probably buy a spare or two just because...and if they fit the old rims with mods then it would give people with the old TRX rims an option for a nice new cap.

Maybe they are holding out on caps just for that reason (to sell more rims) but there are too many advantages with the 16" rim and tire selection IMO.

Says the lovely guy who offered to send me his spare ones before I smashed my 81. Ble55ed.

A lot of parts were interchangeble.

IIRC, The same plant that made the versions of the later machined or forged alloys made the early Lincoln Mark VII LSC center caps in five stud.

If LMR made the TRX's multi slot (4 or 5 stud), then both the Four and five hole center caps could be used on an interchangable basis.

Then a lot more people would buy them.

IIRC, the common 90's wheels found on SVO retires had a similar five stud main cap.

My guess is when/if they do decide to sell them separately, they will have them altered with that 1/4 to 1/2" issue fixed in the mfr process. I can't see them selling a part that is known not to fit and leaving it to the buyer to hack that off.

Default Petition to have LMR sell TRX center caps separately from wheels

Why not just do what OP did and cut down the lug hole sleeve? Seems simple enough to make this small modification. Might be a challenge for LMR to make this a high priority and then spend on the remolding process; change processes can eat up resources

There maybe a patent issue if it was "exactly" the same as the OE......
Remember, they made the replacement wheel 16" (which of course is easier to find tires), not the exact size as the OE.....
This way they don't have to pay a licensing expense.

Yep perfect. I see they are advertised as replacements for the 16X7 rims only and I will also be ordering a spare.

IMO gives a nice option for people with both the replacement TRX rims and the originals if they are willing to do the above modification...can't see why not.

    And now this! https://lmr.com/item/WK-149573/musta...kit-15x7-79-93

Note that the list of that TRX center cap is for "16x7 SVE TRX" so you will have to modify as the OP did here.
