    Default Resurrection of Dearborn #1177

I plucked this Pace Car out of a field of cars back in 2017, no real intentions other than saving it from the crusher. It's an original NY car, non ac, 302/C4 combo. I remember seeing these cars arrive on train new many years ago, I was probably 9 or 10 at the time. I've always wanted one but never sought one out for some reason. It hit me one night that it would be a shame not to bring this one back to life. So I've since placed it under my carport out of the weather and given it a thorough inspection. She's rough but not deceased. I've also acquired several parts cars, 2 being t-top. Since the sunroof structure is rusted out anyway, my plans are to make this a t top Pace Car, replicating the real Pace Cars that were built for Indy 500. I have WAY too many other projects going on to begin anytime soon, but plans are underway and parts are being acquired. Love to hear some thoughts and general conversation about converting to t-top. Also I'll need some PC specific items down the road, mainly hood scoop, front end and interior.

Looks like a project that I would tackle!

If you have the time, money, skills, and desire I say go for it. Definitely love seeing them saved rather than crushed. As for the T-top conversion, I say go for it too as long as you have all the parts needed, T-top roof, door glass, etc. I can't see how anyone could fault you or complain about doing the conversion to a vehicle in that condition. Personally I hate sunroof cars! I have a long torso and a tall sitting height, so the sunroof on my PC causes me to have to lean the seat back a bit further than I would like. Probably another reason why I like T-top cars so much too!

Best of luck with the project and definitely post up pictures and progress as the project moves forward.

That car looks pretty cool as is. Now with a t top, it will look way better. Then after respray some clear to keep that patina.

Got some critical Pace Car parts here recently, hood, hatch, complete front end, rear bumper cover... project is going slow, but it's moving along.

Congratulations! Don't worry about moving slowing. You are doing better than most if not ALL of my projects!

Just keep pecking away at it. It’s amazing how much you can do if you just don’t give up on it or in my case sometimes get overwhelmed by the shear work of it all. Cool project. Period.

Please don't do that patina crap it's so over done now and just starting to look bad, make it clean, doesn't have to be perfect just a sweet driver, touring and road course use is always a plus if you have tracks around
