    Default 85 mustang seat studs

Need to install longer bolts to install sub frame connectors. The nut is on the inside on the back, then how do you remove the complete stud to install longer bolts down through the seat bracket. Thanks!

Double nut the top (passenger compartment), tighten them to each other, then grip the lower nut (you installed), and unscrew.

The bolts just screw down through the floor then through the bracket to put nuts on. Personally, I just made longer studs so it was easier to remove the seats. the second nut under the sub-frame connectors locks the stud.

the stud does not go though the floor. their is a rectangle plate on the bottom of the floor pan. It must come out from the bottom. These are stiflers sub frame connectors. The longer bolts come with them. 10 x 1.5 - 40 mm hex head bolts 10 x 1.5 nyloc nus washers.

The rectangular plate is not original, so not sure what you are referring to. Might be part of the Stiffler setup you are referring to or something that someone else installed in the past. A picture is worthwhile so that we can see what you are dealing with.

If you can't back the studs out from below, you might still do the double nut trick up top. Only thread the nuts on far enough for the pair to lock together. Get the stud loose and begin threading it back down thru the hole. Then remove the double nuts and finish removing the bolt/stud from below. Good Luck!

I looked again the stud does come down though the floor. I will try the double nut from either inside the car or from underneath. I think i now will be able to get them out. Thanks everybody! fran

Studs are very tight cannot move them. Don't want to try vise grips because i don't want to break them off in the floor. Then i would be ,really screwed. They only come up though, do not come down though the bottom. Need idea's

I've had this stuff work wonders.

Also, the inverse, a flame wrench, may do the trick.

I used some penetrating lube, let it soak in for a day then used a 1/4 dewalt impact driver to loosen mine up.

How did you use the impact driver on the studs to loosen. What did you put on the stud to grab it. Double nut won't work. LMK Thanks!
