Default Fuel line cross-over location: Mechanical fuel pump

Looking for pics/ideas/direction on routing the fuel line from the pump to a regulator on the pass side. I could be over-thinking this..... Im running a mechanical pump and the line to the regulator needs to run across the engine bay. I have been told NOT to run it across the back, along the firewall for safety reasons (if the clutch lets go... can sever the fuel line...). How have other dealt with this? Just run it across the top and across the engine? Hoping to make a clean install.

Any tips/pointers on how others have done this are appreciated.

Why not use a regulator mounted on a plate beside the carb? You'd only have to add a little more line and it wouldn't have to stretch across the bay.

    Just a thought.

As mentioned above I made a bracket to mount the regulator beside the carb.
