    Default Fastener size

The front nose studs that fasten it to the front fenders, use the same size nuts as the hood scoop, tail lights, etc. I have bought every dang nut from the hardware store, including an M6 1.0 nut from Napa. Nothing fits. Any idea what they actually are? They look like these. Name: D0DF2087-9661-4F93-8EFA-37E1E54F7353.jpg

This leads me to believe these old cars have a specific tpi that isn’t available at an average hardware store.

Did you try 10-32 10-28 ? I wouldn't think it would be metric for the year but that means nothing

If you have older body shop near you they probably stock em and will help you out newer cars use mostly plastic fasteners and push pins

If I recall it's fine thread so maybe even 1/4-28

The studs are 1/4-20 from the factory. I would bet that you have a damaged thread that is the reason why you can't get the nut to thread on.

Agreed. In my experience these are 1/4-20 UNC. These should be interchangeable with 79-82 (maybe later) hood scoop and one piece rear spoilers from my limited need to find replacements.
