Haha that's my wife's truck... turns out it looks like it's from a 95 cobra as it has the 11.66 in rotors. They are aftermarket i guess since they're not drilled or slotted.

Stock Cobra and GT/V6 rotors were not drilled or slotted. Look like original or original style replacement rotors to me. Good score . . . Well except for the bearing issue!

Oh ok i thought i read they came stock with the drilled, slotted rotors. They don't have a part number anywhere on them so im guessing they're replacements? I learn something everyday. Also it had a set of Ford 4.10 gears in it so I'm guessing whomever set it up didn't do their due diligence in the assembly.

Ok..... one common misconception is that oil plugs need to be pulled down TIGHT. They don't. Only about 10 ft/lbs -- thats IT. If they don't seal there then identify the reason they aren't sealing and fix it. Don't over torque the oil plug.

I had to use a torch and a cold chisel to get the oil plug out on my Sebring one time. I chewed the quick lube place's butt -- absolutely NO reason for a plug to be that tight. I was PISSED. Had just put in a desludge treatment so I couldn't drive it to them and make them take it out.

Got it out without ruining the pan. Was shocked.

Same thing for lug nuts. Is there any reason to use a truck impact wrench to put car wheels on? I've requested hand tight and been told, "oh, they have to pop the nuts to be sure." Really? And how do I get those nuts off on the side of the turnpike with the little wrench that came with the car? One advantage to getting heavier in my older years is to be able to put more weight on the breaker bar!

Did you try turning the lights off?

  13. #113

... turning the lights off? Sometimes I'm a bit slow, please explain. Anyhoo i finally got it. The square drive in the housing was a bit crooked and wouldn't line up so i made sure it was centered and it finally slid home. On a happier note i changed my lower rear control arms for some tubular ones and some koni rear shocks. Holy shazbot it rides so much better. One of the rear shocks would compress but not extend so every bump i hit would rattle the whole car. So what's the debate about the rear sway bar? To install or not install? Well hell, the only major mechanical thing i have left is the sn95 cobra 8.8 sitting on my work bench. To install I'll need parking brake cables which lmr carries. Brake line from body to center of the diff. And wheels. Not to mention front rotors from a mark VII. Master cylinder and a P valve. If i stay 4 lug all i would need to do...i believe... is put my drum hardware and axles in and the brake line to the center of the diff. Or i could just say screw it and procrastinate and just do nothing. Leaning towards nothing lol my old ass is so sore from crawling up, down, around and under that damn car.

Ooooh lol told you i was slow sometimes. Funny how that works, seeing nothing and doing your best work. When i was a heavy equipment mechanic it seems like i was always working blind lol. For such big machines you would think there would be plenty of space to work.

Found a b&m hammer shifter for a song... just a little surface rust as the gates work as they should. Decided a little voodoo electrolysis was in order. Man that science is crazy. The second pic is after about 30 min.

So i finally got fed up with the stupid rattle in my driver's door and tracked it down. It's the exterior door handle rod rattling around in the push hole or whatever it's called lol I'm guessing there's supposed to be a plastic insert that the rod passes through to prevent the offensive noise but mines long gone. What to do what to do. I used some left over heat shrink tubing i had left over from the wire tuck. No more rattle. For some reason the second pic is upside down. Name: 20190524_133056.jpg
