    Default Fairmont/LTD aluminum driveshaft - 5.0 T5 8.8 - Explorer??

So I have a 86 LTD Wagon with a 5.0, T5, and 8.8 rear. Currently have a turbocoupe driveshaft. I’ve read that the 95-00 4dr 4.0 2wd Explorer aluminum driveshaft will bolt up after changing the yoke and flange with my existing stuff. I haven’t found where many people have actually confirmed this conversion works. Any feedback out there guys???

I believe that the Aerostar van was supposed to be a source of an aluminum DS that would bolt in. I never found on in a junkyard that wasn't bent to try it though.

Sorry didn't notice that this wasn't for mustangs. Disregard.

My 2.3T/T-5 Pinto used an Aerostar AWD aluminum rear drive shaft.

It does work. I used one for many years. I'd still have it if I hadn't moved my engine back.

Thanks for the feedback. Would you say it was worth the swap? How was the yoke engagement?

Yoke engagement was a bit outside ideal, but with my aftermarket k-member, my engine was sitting unusually far forward.

This seems like the best option. Need to check my exhaust clearence. If that isn’t an issue, I may give this a try to see if it gets rid of my small driveline vibs.

It certainly did mine. My steel driveshaft was dented and I have 4.10 gears.
