    Default K member brace?

Hi guys. Is their a four point k member brace that will clear bbk long tube headers? I have a 1985 T-Top car. I would like to brace the front a bit better.

This is the one that I have from Maximum Motorsports. You'd have to check your height and their specs to see it would fit.

Thanks for the link. I checked the notes on the site. It states that it won't work with long tube headers.

I think if you want long tubes AND the lower chassis rigidity that this piece offers you need to get an aftermarket k-member which comes with a 2 point brace (MM version) that does clear long tubes.

Old school works well..... here is what Saleen bolted into the 84-86 (or 87?) cars

    Buy some 3/4”x3/4” square tube

cut it to length so it fits (as pictured)

cut the ends (as pictures) so you have room to install a bolt.

Saleen used Allen head bolts with nuts on the top of the K member

Thanks for the info. I never knew Saleen put a brace back in the 80's.

Yes. And the single bar fits well and does 95% of what the newer designs do.

Thanks for the great advice How much of an improvement did you notice, once you installed it?

My 88xr7 has a two point from the factory. Wouldn't know unless you looked. Doesn't feel any different then my two 86's.

Its a build .... bought the Racecraft suspension 85GT as a roller. But they were clearly added with good reason. Otherwise there wouldn’t be any such braces.

Best results will come with a spherical bearing in a caster camber plate rather than onion head stock style strut upper plate.

    Also a strut tower brace.
