Default Rear shocks. all foxes compatible? 87 shocks on 85

I need to order some new shocks and struts. Running low on my mustang budget so I知 thinking about going w some normal KYB struts and shocks. Can I buy a kit for the 87+ ( to fit my soon to be 87+ 5 lug kit). My car is an 85gt and rear sale is stock except for 3:45 gears. Thanks again y誕ll.

87-93 shocks will work in back. The rear shocks from a 94+ will give you a better result (ride and handling) than the foxbody shocks will if you are using anywhere near a Stock spring. They have more droop and more bump. you have to eliminate the Fox bumpstop as the sn95 stops are integrated

In front I used a strut for 79-93. They are compatible with 87-93 via the shims supplied with the strut.

I have 94 spindles in front with these struts and it was a direct bolt-on affair. I did have to use camber bolts in the top hole because at max negative I was still at +6 due to my use of X2 balljoints

Camber bolts and a lot of prying and swearing and a ton of help from a friend got it where it needs to be. I知 at -2 with my struts centered and shoved all the way back towards the windshield in the caster/camber plates to max the caster out.

I have found the lower bushing on the rear shock is sometimes too wide. The Bilsteins I put on had to be trimmed when put on my 89. They were used so not sure which model they came from. Ford doesn’t show a clear path on replacements and show no listings for the earlier models. They also switched to gas charged at the end of 4eyes or at least the replacements.

KYB are very harsh. Motorcraft rear shocks are still made. Maybe try Gabriel up front.

Had VERY good luck with Monroe. I put over 300K miles on my car with a set and they still worked as designed after 20 years of service when I removed them.

I found a set of used (1000 mile) Eibach struts and shocks fo throw on my 85. They are also made for a lowering spring etc. So hoping they will be a positive addition to the car rather than some autozone replacements.

    Thanks for the help gentlemen.
