    Default Hot work

    Guys,
I welded in some subframe connectors on my '83 the other day and melted a black plastic 1/4" diameter tube on the passenger side in the process. It was too close to the heat. Is this the gas tank vent line to the charcoal canister under the hood?

Splice with a piece of rubber vacuum hose that fits snug.
Cut out damaged section. Push hose onto cut ends.

Thanks for the advice. I'm sure I'm not the first to do this.

It is that. Take the opportunity to rip all that **** out. It isn't necessary. It was just there to meet emissions requirements.

Melted the line on my son’s car welding in SFC too. Put silicone sealer on a vacuum line the. Shoved it over the plastic and twisted around on it. It’s been fine the past few yesrs
