Yeah that is kinda low. Even for an engine with a giant cam.

Pretty sure it's a stock cam, thinking it's the valves as the oil is still clean and I changed that almost 2 months ago, nothing is being burned drastically, think it leaks more..LOL. Engine feels like it's got a slight miss when its under load, but plugs look ok. I've got some other heads to throw on it once I run it across johnny's dyno whenever that gets back in operation.
Looks to be at least 50PSI low

Until you tear into it and find out for sure it's hard to say. If it were valves I'd think the numbers would be more erratic.

I've got this turd in the garage now, putting the 4.56 rearend, and Z-spec trans in it, and aluminum driveshaft. None will really change MPH much, but should help ET. Won't get it to the track this week due to the storm, so will update when I'm able as to how it runs.

Kevin compiled videos from 21 June, it was hot, and yeah, it's a lot easier to sit inside in the A/C when the heat index is 100+

Update on the car too, pulled the 3.73 geared rear out and put in one with a 4.56 gearset, and a rebuilt 31 spline track lock with C-clip eliminators. Waiting for a track day where weather will cooperate, looks like next Tuesday will be first day.

For ****s and grins I did a quick port job on a stock HO lower, and borrowed a 65MM TB and spacer from Kevin, let him use a 70MM of mine. Didn't do as well as it does with explorer on it, so put it back on.
I traded a bunch of stuff from this FHP car, for an 86GT longblock from a buddy in Pensacola. I've also got a set of E7's that I'm porting so will throw all that garbage together and run that for awhile. This engine is pretty tired and most of all it leaks, and I hate seeing oil spots where my car is parked, or dropping it on the track.

Around 51-5200 RPM. HP peaked at 4700 on dyno.

I took the accell 300 ignition off my son's 94GT and put it on here. Seems to feel better, but the tach doesn't work now, so shifting by speedometer, not sure what I'm launching at so will have to turn rev limiter down and launch off that this Friday night.
Went to the track Friday night with port matched explorer intake on it. managed a best so far of
    60ft. 1.68
    330 5.243
    660 8.26@81.50

Weather is finally starting to cool off a little bit, but won't get this turd into the 7s with the stock engine. I've got a set of E7s from Rod that I'm porting, once they're done they'll go on the shortblock was in poodle pecker with a stock HO cam, and ported stock intake and 65MM TB.

I couldn't trust the stock tach in my 85. With a tach adapter I was bouncing off the 6250 rev limiter in 1st and 2nd as the needle was just sweeping past 5k. It's accurate, just not fast enough. I installed one of those pencil style shift lights on the column as I did'nt want a big ugly monster tach taking up residence on or in the dash.

I'm not a fan of the monster tach either, but found this one that I'll probably pick up and install when I put the other engine in this turd.

Saturday I got industrious, weather is finally cooling off..lol. I pulled the front and rear bumpers (-90 lbs., pulled rear seat (-37 lbs.) pulled cat back off (-60 lbs.) and swapped it with the bullets and dumps from the red car (+20 lbs., and put 1.7 cobra rockers on this turd. Went to the track Sunday, temps were in the high 60s to low 70s. First pass ran an 8.04@84.1, with a 1.67 60ft., close to a 7 second pass, but not quite. rest of the day ran about the same but track was having issues, so as the day went on the times went up a bit as the 60fts got worse. I've got a tach to try and put in Saturday so I can know what RPM I'm launching at and shifting at instead of using speedometer, we'll try to squeak it into the 7s before I pull this tired engine out and swap the other engine from Eric's 86GT.

I can't get passed the fact of completely pulling the bumpers, but if it's a track car only...

I managed to find and install aluminum bumpers on my 85 and do a few other weight saving tricks. Silly rare these days. But with the cage and subframe connectors, it probably all just balanced out.

I know, took me awhile to warm up to it, it's my daily driver for the time being, but I only live 6 miles from work, and half of that is on base.

Went back up to the track yesterday, weather was a little worse yesterday 787 DA vs. just over 500 last Sunday. Still ran a new personal best, 8.03@ 83.69, only thing I changed was swapping out the 65MM throttle body for the 80MM-R from my red car. Sooo close to the 7.9X, but not quite there yet, weather looks to be about the same for next Sunday so going to try a different airtube, and running a short belt to bypass the power steering. Made 7 passes, clanged 2nd once, so getting a little better at it.

In November was on the way to the track, heard a little "ping" under the dash when I pushed in the clutch rolling up to the stop sign. Didn't think anything of it, got out on the highway and the first signal light I got to heard the noise again, only louder, and the clutch pedal went to the floor. Clutch cable had broken, so got it rolling, it will start in first gear with a 4.56, lol. Made it back home, swapped cable from the red car that was in the garage, and made it to the track. Only to clang second so hard that trans wouldn't go into first gear anymore. The different clutch cable hooked onto the quadrant in a different spot so pedal feel was completely different. I shouldn't have raced it that day, but was so close to getting into the 7s I wanted to make that happen. After I broke the trans I just drove the car like normal daily driver, only starting out in second. In late December brought it in the garage to pull the tired engine, and put in this other 86 stock shortblock, ported TW heads, and a ported Vic. Jr. intake. Engine is in, got it running tonight, have a few more things to wrap up, original trans is back in it as the shift fork was OK, not broken like we thought. Shift pads are a little beat up, but not sure that caused the issues.

At first I thought you went carb'd with it, but then saw the injector wiring poking out from underneath the air box. Can't wait to see what kind of power it makes. What camshaft did you go with?

Still running 86 stocker with 1.7 comp pro mags for now, I'll put the original back in it after I go through it with with something a little better. Just going to try this set up out and see how it does. This set up is why I put the T5 back in and put the T5Z into the red car, I figured this set up wouldn't make torque that a long runner set up does, so would need help getting off the line good.

The 3.35 first should definitely help out with the bottom end. I love twisted wedge heads so I'm looking forward to seeing this combo in action.

328@5100, 351@4500, Kevin took video the whole day, so that should be up soon, unless he waits until Rodney gets whatever video he took done, so then Kevin will wait so they can be posted the same day. I'm surprised at how low it peaked, and how much torque it made, tune isn't right yet, have some more messing to do with that yet, runs well enough to drive it around.

Link to dyno graph that's not sideways, no idea why the one showing is sideways.

Would have thought that would be more than enough to get you into the 7's. These numbers better than your last track outing? I know you are constantly trying different things on the car.

This is a different engine, after I broke the trans I said I wasn't going to take the trans out and put it back in just to get into the 7s. If the trans was coming out it would be because the other engine was going in, so when the trans broke that sealed the deal that the other engine would go in it.

Had issues third and fourth pass, shifter base was loosening up, don't know how I managed to hit all the gears on the last pass Only two bolts were in the shifter base plate, and they were out, hanging over the edge. That's where all the smoke came from, you can see it get worse every pass. I did manage to get home with it though.
