Default Anyone have a Fox Thunderbird or Cougar with Panhard Bar?

I know it might be a long shot but I am having no luck over on NATO with the same question. Wanted to see if anyone had tried to install a panhard bar for a Fox Mustang into a Fox Bird or Cougar.

Have you tried asking Maximum Motorsports directly (assuming you bought or are thinking of buying it from them)? They always seem responsive and helpful whenever I've inquired about their products.

I was hoping someone else had already installed one as it appears that it will physically install but one never knows until you pull the trigger and do it. I did email MM and ask so we will see what they have to say, hopefully Jack Hidley responds as he has helped me in the past.

Let us know what you hear. I would be interested in hearing since I will probably be going down the same path with my longer wheel base car in a couple of years.

So it was Jack that responded and here is the email I received (I X'd out the email addresses for spamming reasons):

Yes, it will bolt into the chassis.

The only problem we are aware of is clearance to the fuel tank with the tailpipes. Some of the Thunderbirds have larger fuel tanks than Fox Mustangs. These have a different shape in the front. They may require the tailpipes to be modified to fit.

Note that the forward RLCA mounting points on the chassis are 1.75" lower down than on a Fox Mustang. If you want decent levels of antisquat, these must be moved up when the car is lowered.

    Sincerely,

    Jack Hidley

Will the panhard bar for the Fox Mustang work on a 83-88 Thunderbird? I was looking for chassis info just to see if it would physically install but cannot find two drawings with the same info to make the comparisons.

So it will work but the tail pipes and fuel tank most likely will be an issue. Jack's comment on the rear lower control arm (RLCA) forward mounting location has not been an issue on my '83 Bird and it is in the weeds with the rear coil overs, Griggs LCA's and Global West adjustable UCA's. That is not saying that on a road coarse one would not notice this or otherwise Jack would not have mentioned it.
