At least for 1979 Capri and Mustang models you could choose any exterior paint color, interior trim color, and body paint stripe color combo you wanted. There were "available"/recommended paint/trim combinations but you could choose any combo as long as the order denoted that the selection has been verified and is definitely desired. For 1979 Capri RSes with (1C) Black exterior paint and (D) Medium Red interior trim the recommended paint stripe color on the upper fenders and quarter panels was Red (code J on the build sheet).

Did you paint the stripes on the nose corner or did you go with a decal, like the original?

I believe the originals were painted. I don't think any of them were decals.

The little curved double line on my 82 were decals on the nose. Painted on the rest of the car

Interesting I have only seen painted stripes even on the nose in my experience.

My 79 had a three colour tape stripe, yellow/red/orange, originally. I assumed it was original to the car. I had considered trying to incorporate the striping into the car again, but decided it would not work into the theme very tastefully.

That looks similar to the strips that I covered the factory dual orange stripe on my first 79 Mustang back 1982 when I was in high school. The 3-color stripe was a common parts store item back in the day.

My current 79 came with silver stripes in the molding and light green stripes on the body.
