    Default Edelbrock 1406 popping

My 85 gt starts and idles good for about 10 minutes then the idle starts falling on its face. The carb will pop and it even shot a flame out of it when I blip the throttle. Not sure what the problem could be. The air fuel screws
    are turned out 1 1/2 to 2 .
    Thanks in advance

Sounds to me like you are having a gasket leaking somewhere under the carb, intake manifold area. Is this a new carb on the car?

Have you done anything to it prior to this happening?

The carb isn't new. I was thinking that the timing was possibly off .I did have the dizzy out when I was changing the thermostat. Could the timing cause that. I thought I put it back in the same way. Maybe I didn't

Yep, there's your problem. I was going to suggest timing but didn't want to make an assumption. Get after it with a timing light first...hopefully there was not enough flame back to take out a gasket.
