    Default 83 GT Window Trim?

    Hi all!

Can any help me identify the metal finish piece, between the two windows, in this picture? In most pictures of mustangs of this year, that I've seen, all of the pieces in this area are black. I'm trying to figure out if this piece is an add on or has just lost its black color over the years.

    Thanks,

    Keith

That is an additional piece that is added due to the T-top conversion on your GT. Since the original window frames are missing with the T-top conversion that piece takes up the space the frame would have original to help seal the windows to the body. It is quite common for that piece to lose it's black coating as the years go by.

Good Looking GT! Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the response!

Are the pieces in question sold as reproductions anywhere, or are the only options to paint them or find a used pair that still has the black coating?

No one reproduces the parts at this time that I am aware of. Unless you are replacing weatherstripping seals, painting, or doing something else that would require removing the trim pieces and the weatherstripping right now, I would paint them on the car. Some minor prep work with some standard Black Trim paint will take care of them and make them look like new again.
