    States that he's had it since 1989, but calls it a "Barn Find" . . .

    Too bad there's at least $10K worth of paint, body, work, and parts needed to bring it back to a nice car!

    He must think it’s a barn find because it’s dusty.that 85 saleen I posted in erratics thread I could buy right now for 16,500.and it’s a million times nicer than this one.cool car nonetheless..

    This quote "Early Saleens are appreciating everyday" doesn't pertain to basketcase projects. He would have a much better chance of getting even $10k for it if he'd at least pull it out of the garage and spend a few hours washing and detailing the car to make it more presentable

    1986 Saleen for sale. Runs great. Been stored inside operational industrial oven for last 15 years. No rust.

    Lazy seller. The seller's best bet would be to send that car to a proper Auto Detailer. Car would sell within a week. Good luck to him.

    Squirrels have been gnawing on the leading edge of the rear spoiler for some time it appears. Saleen values are going to have to go WAY up to make this worth a restoration in the first place. Dump about $12,000 in fixing it up and you'd have your self a nice $10,000 ride.

    Wow that looks might rough for 15K. As you guys all know you can ask for whatever you want. At the end of the day you can only get what someone is willing to pay. The interior at first glance looks decent. However the exterior is in a severe need of restoration. I wonder how it runs or if runs at all?

    Getting closer... I'd be tempted at $8k. Lots of good stuff there despite the "ugly stuff".
    Wouldn't be a quick money maker, but a decent investment.

    ...Then I'd just need to find #144...

    It looks like it could form a good solid base as a restoration project. Just browsing through the pictures.....the interior looks pretty good though the exterior will require a lot of work obviously. Mechanically I guess one won't really know until it is seen in person. Looks like the motor is all there and in tact.

    My take is if all the 86 Saleen stuff is there the project is way ahead of the game. Finding and buying early Saleen parts is both difficult and expensive.

    Price out what’s there like the gauge cluster— if you can find one.

    Rims and center caps too.

    Rear spoiler

    etc

    But then also price out the body kit parts and the stripe kit.

    IMO this car is money well spent parts wise at $6000 but no more. Then the serial number checking out in another factor. In today’s market it might make it worth another 1500-2000. Down the road that will be bigger deal and drive value a bit more but not right now.

    Truth is history of the car could make for a better story and more money too.

    i wouldn’t pay a penny over $7500 for the car because absolutely everything has to be redone which is a $15K ordeal easy. the end product is not worth the investment except in consuming it by enjoying the car. It will struggle to get into the 20’s in value so the fun had better be worth the expense.

    You will not believe me when I tell you how fast stuff adds up until you hit the parts sites and fill your cart with every part suppliers ever made for an 85-86 Mustang then go to the next site and do the same!

    Trey has seen most of the receipts for my 85 build and can attest to what has went into it so far. While some upgrade expense could have been spared, the replacement parts were not much cheaper than the upgrade on many things.

    ^^^The gauge cluster in this car is useless. Look again. All the gauge faces are peeling off due to being stored "In an Industrial oven" as stated so eloquently above.

    All the clusters bubble up. That's a sign of it being authentic. Many will restore the whole car, and leave the cluster untouched.

    Yea, every time I look at this car that $7500 I was thinking about goes down. Really too bad it’s been turned into such a piece of crap, but that’s what it is now.
