Default Nostalgic for my first four eye!

    Hello everyone,
Was thinking about my first four eye car. In 1986 I purchased an 83 Capri RS 5.0 20k miles. It had t tops and 4 speed transmission. No AC. I was living in San Diego area at the time and have such great memories with it.

What was your first four eye car and when did you get it?

My first four eye car was a 1986 Capri 5.0. I bought it in 1988 with 9,000 miles on it. Foolishly sold it a couple years later. Finally got my second 4-eye car in 2012 when I got another 1986 Capri.

Thanks! Always missed my first Capri and finally got another one. I would like to see some pics of your Capri. I always liked the Charcoal Grey ones. I saw the thread on the '86 Mustang you just bought. Congrats! It looks really nice. I bet you are enjoying it.

I got my first four eye, a 85 Mustang GT, back in 1990. I had it until about 2015. I drove it a lot when I first had it for almost 10 years and showed it at the local car shows. It was good quality driver car. Had it repainted by the Ford dealer back in 1995. Then I got busy with my career and sadly the car sat for the longest time and slowly deteriorated. Found a good new home for it in 2015 as the car really just needed a new headliner, some new tires, a few fluids changed and new brakes and it would be very road worthy again. I will post a picture of it when I get a chance as I do miss it. But recently I purchased an immaculate 82 silver GT that looks some stockish but has been modified tastefully by the original owner.

What great memories these four eyes bring to all of us who have the pleasure of owning them

I got my first 79cobra in 92ish.it was the same red/ black as my current one. It was sitting in the original owners back yard. My dad was a mailman and found it for me. 100k miles super clean. I handed the guy 200 bucks aired up one tire, jumpstarted it and drove it home.i cleaned it up and eventually had it repainted by(another mailroute find from my dad). So there are the obligatory senorpics with it somewhere. Unfortunately I got hit head on by a terrible driver summer of 94. I did fix it, sold it to my brother then he sold it to a crack head I think. I haven't seen it since. Last time I saw it my trxs were gone and it was dragging a muffler. It had a few identifiers I would know if I saw it again. Fyi a cyclone header sticker on the firewall a hand painted air cleaner lid and a homemade radio console. I would love to think someone saved it rather than it's most likely fate, turned into a new toaster or Camry fender

Nice, I bet this 86 helps to bring back fond memories. I know my 82 I just bought reminds me when I got my 85 GT.

Default Nostalgic for my first four eye!

My love of mustangs started when I was less than a year old.
I was born in April 1982. In the fall of ‘82 my dad’s friend Bob ordered his wife a Red ‘83 GLX Convertible, one of the first sold in Ontario. My dad saw the car the day Bob picked it up from the dealer and he told Bobbie wanted to buy it if they ever sold it.
I’m 1992 Bob called my dad and asked if he still wanted the car for what the ford dealer had offered on a trade for a green ‘92 Convertible.
    Dad still has the ‘83.

When I turned 16 I got my first car, an ‘88 LX, 4cyl 5 speed. I worked sweeping the floor in a body shop that summer and on the weekends they let me work on my car and we repainted it and got it mechanically safe.
Dad wouldn’t let me drive his ‘83 Convertible.
In 2001, summer between high school and university we were at a swap meet and I saw something across the field that called to me.
    An ‘83 GLX Convertible!
I had to have it and scrounged up $1100 to buy the neglected car. It had been sitting for about 10 years and needed some serious attention.
Since then my dad and I have both owned several more mustangs each, but we both still have our ‘83’s

My ‘83 the day I bought it.

New top and paint, notice my brother’s 91 and my mom’s 92 Convertible in the background first car ‘88 LX showing 435k km!

My first four eye was my 86 Saleen. I bought it in 2009 from the 3rd owner. My mom gave me her 67 coupe for my 14th birthday back in 1985. A year later a kid up the street bought this gray Saleen Mustang. I didn’t know what it was other than it was a Mustang. It wasn’t till one of my magazines had an article in it that I found out about Saleen. The more I saw the car the more I fell in love with it. The kid traded it 91 for a SHO Taurus. I never knew what the bumper number was. In 99 I bought my 96 GT from a friend of mine. Two years later I saw my car for sale in the auto trader. Unfortunately I was not in a position to buy it then. In 2009 I saw it on Craigslist. I was sweating a lay-off and my wife was 7 months pregnant with my youngest son. Not a good time to buy another toy. My wife, bless her heart, convinced me to go look at it and the rest is history. This summer I was finally able to get Steve to sign it. This is something that I’ve wanted to get done for a long time. The car has become a part of the family now along with my 67 and my 96.

Well, technically my first four eye was a 1970 Datsun 510 sedan.

My first and only Fox Mustang four eye is my 79 coupe.

My first 4-eye, an 81 coupe, I bought from a dealer, it was a "demo". She had 5500 miles when I got her in late 1983. As my sig says, 4 cyl, 4-speed. Had her for 5 years and put 145xxx miles on her.

Here she is rock'n some wire wheel hub caps and Ford Motorsport strips on the hood.

My first 4 eye was an 89 Mark VII LSC. In March 2007 I bought it for $475, and it was sitting behind a body shop (the body shop burned down later) with a bad transmission. I immediately started gathering parts and swapped in a T5. These pics were the last before I sold it in 2010 when it started having a bunch of air ride issues.

Yep, my 1st 4 eye was a 1979 Pontiac Formula. It was the only GM purchased in the family. Sold it 2 years later and bought a 1984 SVO. Loved that car, and drove the crap out of it traveling to school in MI.

I bought my first 4 eye at 2010 when I was 17. It was ’84 hatchback with 3.8 and C5. The previous owner had bought it from insurance company as all windows and headlights were broken and it didn’t start. I searched all the info of this car and found out it was imported here at 86, and since then it was 17 years in different dealerships. I think I was 5th owner or so without counting dealers. Insurance company had redeemed the car because of vandalism, but I think the dealer that had it at the time couldn’t get the car started and made an insurance fraud. I don’t have pics of it as it was, but this is how it looked after getting new windows and 15” wheels:

I got it started after changing battery cables and new starter and I was very happy and drove it thru winter. I wanted to get the car better looking and took it to a friend of mine who painted it next spring (it took him almost a year and it was painful to wait). I was very happy again as I got it back from him in 2012:

In August of 2012 this car was burned in our yard. I just got it washed and when I got back inside, I saw the flames from window. I think there was still something wrong with the wiring, maybe alternator because I changed 3 alternators and none of them wasn’t charging properly. I had to fight with my insurance company for almost two months to get some money to buy a new 4 eye. And I still have it, even the first one was much better.
