Default New 82 GT from North Vancouver BC, Canada

Hi everyone, my name is Peter and I just recently purchased a silver 82 GT from Illinois. I bought the car from the original owner who is a now retired auto tech. I feel very lucky to have found this 82 as it has been meticulously maintained. It does have original paint and the original interior. However the original owner did build up the rest of the car. I was told almost all parts were brand new at the time of the build which was about 17 years ago now. It has a 5.0 crate motor with a cam, 8.8 rear end with 373 gears, Tremec T5 five speed tranny, 4 wheel disc brake and 5 lug conversion (same set up as an SVO), full exhaust, aluminum driveshaft etc. The underside of the car is very clean. In fact it is probably just as clean if not cleaner than the exterior.

I have had an 85 GT in the past as well as a 89 5.0 LX vert and am just getting back into a fox. I also currently have two 05 GTs (one vert and one fastback). I love both the FoxesName: Pic 3.jpg

Size: 116.5 KB and the S197s but the Fox is the stang I grew up with. I never really worked on my Foxes in the past. I only started doing basic maintenance and mods on my S197s so I hope to learn lots from all you keen 4 eyed members here. The 82 was my dream mustang in high school and I am so glad to have found this one.

Glad to see you got your dream car, and a very clean and awesome looking 82. See all good things come to people that waits. You could not of found a nicer looking 82. It is amazing that you found it in the rust belt that clean so it had to have been garaged in the winters. Really nice engine compartment also. You really need to insure that one with classic insurance and a guaranteed value. I have my 84 and my wife has her 07 gt vert that we take to shows, her odometer just hit 40K this summer. I like the foxes and s197's also.

Thanks for the comments and the tip regarding classic insurance. Yes, this car makes me feel like I am 19 all over again Though I am not sure how to go about that in Canada here but will have to check it out. Here are a couple of more pictures. I have questions regarding wheel fitment, coolant issues etc. in which I will post in the appropriate section.

Thanks man, the auto carrier in the picture above transported her about 2200 miles from Naperville, Illinois to Blaine, WA. I picked it up in Blaine and imported it over the border. I look forward to getting to know more members.

Man that is awesome. A black with porno red interior 82 GT is why I am still in to Foxes also. A guy my Dad worked with had the first one I had ever seen. I love pretty much every modification I see on it. Very tastefully done. That would be the only silver 1982 Mustang that has never been painted if so but Who cares? That does not add or subtract from the value. That is simply a high-end tasteful build. You should be the envy of most '82 GT fans.

The paint is very presentable though it does have its' imperfections being original and the chassis does have 48K miles on it. The build only has 12K miles and the way the car sits right now is how it has been since 2001.

My plan sometime down the road is to get the car a good quality paint job. I also would like to put in the factory recaros and perhaps consider upgrading the brakes/spindles on the car to the SN95 Cobra brakes so I can put 18 inch rims on it. The original owner who has built this 82 himself has never dynoed it but he figures it is putting down about 280 HP to the wheels. Ironically, I almost bought that other silver 82 GT that was recently sold on eBay. The one that had the recaros, t-tops, LMR TRX wheels etc. But once I came across this one I knew I had to have it instead. I could not really wrap my head around driving a mustang that only gets 157 HP after having driven an S197 that is supercharged. Name: Pic 8.jpg

Beautiful 82 GT - Where your car came from was about 20 mins away from where I live, which I could have seen it in person!

Man that is crazy. I hired an inspector to go look at the car for me. I should have hired you lol I just feel fortunate to have found this 82 and now my task is to try and upkeep it to the same level as the original owner. I can change oil, filters, spark plugs and do some minor mods etc. but the original owner was very strict in the maintenance of this car. He even hand wrote out his suggested maintenance schedule for me. I am glad to have found this site. I will also post a picture of my 85 Gt that I had in the past when I get the chance. Slck82GT you are doing a great job of refreshing your ride. The 82 is so unique and they only really made it the one year as 83 was different and there was no GT in 81.

I agree the 82 is the best looking fox I love the uniqueness of it (i.e. the front end, hood scoop, flat black dash, the plain tail lights etc.). Here are a couple of more pics of my 82. Name: 20181022_162442 (1).jpg

Wow I can't believe so many of you were so close to my 82. Though I do hear Illinois is quite the car state as there are lots of nice cars coming from that area. It is too bad but for whatever reason Ford only made the 82 the way it is just the one year only.

Here is a pic of my 85 GT which I sold about 3 years ago. Now I have the 82 which is really helping me recollect the good ole days with the 85 which I bought back in 1991 when I was 19.
