    Default Car Help...

My car is belching smoke right now. Hadn't run in 14 months. What could be wrong? Strangely it ran perfectly before this. I almost feel like some animal ran into the muffler, died, and is burning up!!!!
Its at like 300 RPM and sounding like something out of the '30s!! LOL

What does it smell like, oil burning, coolant, fuel, or something other than those?

Did you put stabilizer in the fuel system?

If its black smoke, maybe choke or float stuck that could explain the 300 RPM. Or as Monty78 says bad gas.

be careful if raw gas could cause cat's or mufflers to overheat and start things melting or on fire

Going to the local Ford dealership right now, to pick up a set of spark plugs and filters. Hopefully this will make a nice difference

Getting ready to take another stab at this. So how is the float unstuck...or choke for that matter?

Valve stem seals might need to settle in again after sitting for so long. Just a thought.

It might help to include the year and engine otherwise answers will be vague.

What is that, something like 'Muffler Bearings?!??' lol

The weather is finally nice enough. I'm going to do the oil and filter, plugs/wires, and take it from there.
Still have no idea about the 'stuck float?' Jam a screwdriver in the carburetor, maybe? I had seen teenagers do that when I was a kid! lol
A few gallons of fresh fuel should about do it. Any new ideas? Please PM me.

    UPDATE:
Car is running great now(Thank God!) Did an oil change, actually (2)--one after this last post, and one just this Fall. Second one, I used a nice F1LA from Ford (always) but upgraded to CastrolGTX 10W40, and seriously it hasn't run this healthy in about three years. Inside, heat is crazy hot too (New Heater Core)
