Default 79 Notchback In Tangerine Production Numbers

Was wondering if there is a way I could find out how many 79 tangerine notchbacks were made. Mine was a 4 cylinder, automatic. It’s something I’ve thought about for years. I hadn’t seen many over the years so I’m assuming there weren’t that many produced relative to some of the other colors that were available.

A deluxe Marti report will tell you. There were two 2-door sedan codes in 1979. One was code "02" (base) in the VIN and the other was code "04" (Ghia) in the VIN. The paint code stat on the deluxe Marti report will be for one of those codes, and for all engine, transmission, etc.

Im sure I have the VIN somewhere but don’t have the car anymore (haven’t had it since 2005). It probably wouldn’t make sense for me to get a report at this point. It was definitely a base car in tangerine with the black high back buckets, 2.3L engine with auto transmission and 13 inch wheels. It had AC but it hasn’t been factory installed and I remember a stereo with 8 track player which was surprisingly quite good.

    Matt,

For our 79 Tangerine Coupe 66B (non-Ghia coupe); total production numbers say 156,666 were made. In our report, Marti said there were 3820 with this paint code. 334 with our interior code which sounds different than ours. That would mean yours could have been one or the 3486 left

I've seen a few Tangerine Cobras but no Tangerine Ghia's that I can recall. That would be cool to see I suppose!
