    Default Low inital timing only!

I timed my car by keep dropping timing untill no ping under load.
It starts good runs ok.. but I checked my timing -2deg. I set to 2 deg so 4 more advanced and pings when it shifts to 3rd(c4)
It has 10.2:1 afr165 air gap holley 600.
I am thinking of backing down to 0 and try again.
I am not running vac advance and have factory duraspark with stiff springs and tabs bent as far as they will go.
Anyone ever hear of an engine that hates advance like that?
Oh my mechanical is +20( welded slot)
    I went from a 2.64 to 3.31 gears(8.
It wont spin the tires off the line which is strange.. just takes off to 5k+rpm instantly which is good I guess..

That’s a lot of compression for regular gas — what you running?

The best you can get here is 91-94 which is what I run.

You have one of two problems.
1 The timing marks on your damper is off. Check TDC to verify.
2 You need to recurve the distributor's timing advance. Too much timing advance in the distributor.

I came to the conclusion I don't care.
Going to back it off 2 degrees till it does not ping.
I already recurved for 20 mechanical that starts at 2800 and gets it all at 3500.
Going to add ported vac advance after and adjust the vac sensitivity.
The pointer is passenger side and the new power bond or whatever is a 28oz for my car but who knows. It should be close because I dropped it in a 15deg when it blew my thumb off #1. It runs fine so it has to be right as would have a major misfire.
