    Default Transmission fitment question

My transmission in my '79 Turbo 2.3 has internal problems, in need of a replacement. I found one that's more or less the same, Borg Warner 4-140 standard four-speed but for an '87-'93 2.3. Anyone know if it will work? Thanks! Jim

Dunno about the 4 speed. Parts interchange etc. But did not 87-93 4cyl have 5 speeds? Trans tag code will tell.

    Installed a used 1992 1352-209 code 4 cyl WC T5 in 2002. Have 79 Cobra 2.3T.
T5 fits 79 2.3T RAD trans bell housing and cross member. Use same clutch, brg, cables, etc.
Backup lights need no mod. Speedo driven gear gear cut has to match replacement trans drive gear.
Changed to better shifter assy and matching 5 speed 41.5" drive shaft (shorter). 3qt Mobil 1 ATF.
Console needs no mods. Did trim front of trans tunnel shifter opening for correct access to front 5 sp. shifter bolts.
Have over 100,000 miles on the retrofit, plus whatever the trans had before (think it said 75k).
Must have got a good one! No leaks, noise, shifts smoothly.
Slight whine in 3rd but is normal. Similar but not loud like a truck, Boss 302, or GM rockcrusher trans (all sound great to me).
Notice no difference in overall performance, fuel econ, shift rpm, but is a better trans and uses Mercon/Dex not gear oil.
5th is a little tall for 3.45 rear gear on freeway. Rpm is same at about 72 as it was at 60 with the 4 speed (2800).
Did posts on the swap with pic while back.
