Thread: Rpms dropping

    Default Rpms dropping

Starts fine, runs fine. Once I put it in gear however the RPM’s drop way down, and when driving if I stop it will die. It’s a 1986 V6 carbonated motor. I have checked the vacuum hoses and can’t find any leaks.

You might check the timing in neutral/park and in drive, with the wheels blocked and the parking brake set, of course. You might have a leaky vacuum booster that only happens when you hit the brakes. Assuming auto transmission. Just spitballing here.
