Default '04 Mach 1 fuel filling

My wife bought a 04 mach 1 with 168,000 miles on it. When I try to put gas in it I can only get a little bit in at a time and it shuts the pump off. I think there is a restriction somewhere but not sure what all is involved in this cars fuel system that I should be looking at.
I know there is the fill pipe vent tube and there is a vent valve on the top of the tank. Other than that I don't know if there is anything else I should look at. Any ideas?

yes, my Contour did that and there was a TSB for what they called a flapper valve at the end of the filler tube.
LMR lists a similar issue on their TSB list for this on 2005 Mustangs

I had the same problem on lincoln ls. It ended up being the roll over valve causing the issue.

There is a anti siphon valve on the end of the filler tube. I’m not sure if that would cause the issue. Mine actually fell off when removing the tank. Tank and filler pipe removal are the same as the Fox. You would probably get half a gallon in before it would shut off. The valve is not made to be leak tight. You might try pushing a hose down the filler tube to jiggle it.

There is probably another vent tube on the top of the tank, possibly part of the fuel hat.

My 2016 F250 started doing the same thing after 4000 miles. It was not the filler tube but a valve someplace else.

I just watch a video on th3 tank removal. Not sure if it was 100% correct. No vent on the fuel hat. Looks like a 1” tube going to the tank right behind the right wheel from the filler? And another one right there along with a main line quick disconnect.
