Default How to use antique adjustable cam gear

I picked up a used Racer Walsh cam gear but it doesn't have any marks on it. I'm guessing it's old because the new ones they sell have 5 bolts. I understand I mark the main 0 timing mark using the stock cam gear but how will I know how much I'm advancing or retarding the cam? Do I need a degree wheel? Do I just wing it? Seems like it has way more than a 6* adjustment either way.Name: 20180914_180836.jpg

I would use it as a wall hanger.
