Default Possibly The Last Fox Still In Service

Nebraska has a lot of issues, but at least they still have one thing going for them. This car is still active duty and still sees occasional patrol work, but most of the time it just sits around and does promotional shows, car shows and parades.

Either way, it's still pretty cool to see one and the fact this is still active makes it much better.

Sure brings back some less than happy memories though.

Several state departments still have an SSP that they use for shows and such. Georgia State Patrol, Kentucky State Police, Michigan State Police, Nebraska State Patrol, etc.

Even though they are not "in service" any longer make no mistake...they can certainly be used for traffic enforcement at any time by anyone otherwise authorized to make a stop and issue a summons.

It is required to be an active "in service" car otherwise state govt. rules state it has to be auctioned off or destroyed.
They use it just enough to patrol the roads of nowhere western Nebraska to keep it active so the bean counters don't dictate they have to give it up. Ultimately I'm sure the day will come that this car will go the way of all the rest of them and the state patrol will use a fancy Charger for their shows and displays.

Cool to see it still being used for however long it makes it. Last one in our area lasted until about 4 years ago I believe.

There is usually a NYS Police fox mustang at the NYS fair every year. I'm not sure if it is privately owned and displayed with other NYS Police cars, or if the state owns it.

The Oregon Stare Police , had a fleet of ssp's in 84 and 85.
Auctioned them off and got Impalas ,because the cops could not drive them in the rain , and blew engines up .
I bought 6 while I worked for Ford , all with bad engines .

It would have been cool if they had brought it to the MCA show in Lincoln this year.

I'd much rather patrol in this car than my current Charger.

That's kind of what I was thinking also as it would have been a great place for it to make an appearance. I'm not sure how they determine what events they take it to, but I'm going to work and find out as I think it would be a pretty neat addition to any of the Mustang shows up here.

I wish I had known about it a long time ago and I would have extended an invitation to the SP to bring it down to both the Annual Mustang Show our club puts on and the upcoming Midwest Foxfest.

    Maybe next year!
