Default Question on 85 wheel sizing, spindle change needed?

So I have a couple of '85s. I'm trying to install the wheels below on them:

    https://www.americanmuscle.com/silver-sc-style-wheels-7993.html

I tried them on one of my cars, granted it's a bit more of a project car, but it was rubbing when turning. I see a note about needing 87-93 front spindles, is that required to make them fit?

I see a lot of pictures of these wheels on four eyed Mustangs, for example:

What do I need to do to make these fit?

Rubbing where? Was it the wheel that was rubbing, or the tire that was rubbing?
    '89 GT convertible - not a four-eye
    '82 Zephyr Z7 - future track car

The tire was rubbing. Would 87-93 spindles help with clearance or are those only for brake and 5 lug upgrades?

Again, rubbing where? Nobody can tell you what changes are going to help if we don't know what the problem is.

And since it's the tire that's rubbing, what size tire?

Sorry, it's extremely close, pretty much rubbing against the wheel well liner when the tires are cranked to the far left or right. Maybe this is fine? Here are some pictures: https://imgur.com/a/JQxt6lY

    Tires are 245/45-17 Mickey Thompsons.

Note: In the pictures I still have the OEM back wheels on.

A shorter tire helps with rubbing on the fender extensions

    255/40/17’s

Another help — double up on camber bolts so you can completely max out caster. Lay the struts all the way back towards the windshield using caster/camber plates.

im going to suggest trying to keep your track width as wide as you can while playing with this

the first thing to try is

Adjust your camber by making the bottom camber bolt push the wheel as far out as possible. Now adjust the top camber bolt to get your negative camber where you want it.

now set your toe and go lock to lock

if that doesn’t get it try maxing out the upper camber bolt as far “in” as possible. Max out what it can give for negative camber. Now adjust the bottom bolt to get your camber where you want it.

you can play with all sorts of stuff with both upper and lower spindle bolts being camber bolts. You can turn your wheels lock to lock and play with it until the swirl it makes on the tire is centered on the rubber, etc...

Have fun with it. It’s time well spent. These cars drive SO good with the right frontend settings

That looks pretty minor, I probably wouldn't bother with it at all.

Rubbing looks pretty minor to me also. The other option is to install some additional rack limiters to prevent the wheels from turning that far and prevent the rubbing.

Worth mentioning the difference between the 86 GT 2.5 turn lock to lock rack and the 93 2.25 is not the steering ratio. It’s range of motion. That was the answer to rubbing with the 16” wheels and tires.

I believe the difference is the rack limiters installed in the steering racks. The ratio is the same and in my experience the housings have the same casting numbers. I don't believe there are any significant differences internally between the R&P. I personally have noticed more rack limiters on the later model racks when I have repaired/replaced them. Not sure if that was what you are alluding to or not.

Thanks for the feedback folks. Ive taken a few drives and it doesnt seem to be an issue. Im just going to take it easy on sharp turns and look into a limiter.
