    Default Underhood fuse block

Hey guy's was thinking of installing a fuse block like the one pictured in my engine bay to eliminate some of the fusable links that tie in to the solenoid and to power some accessories like fan, msd, etc.
What do you guys think good , bad ,what should i look out for.

I'm not sure that is going to have the amperage capacity required to replace a fused link. You can get master fuses that would work in place of fused links. They are typically in the 100+ amp range since they are protecting the main battery power feeds not just individual circuits. Due to the high amperage they are made to handle, they are usually a bolt in type fuse to ensure secure connections.

I'm doing this exact thing, but I figured why reinvent the wheel. I cut a fuse and relay block out of a late 90's Stang. They are the same from 94-2004 I believe and some years of Crown Vic's and T-birds. I am wiring it in right now slowly but surely. If you look in the show and tell forum I have a build thread.

I'm using the 94 underhood block in my 79. Lots of extra spaces and relays. Just need to make sure its labeled well when you're done

Size: 129.5 KB there it is I used the fuse block bracket to attach it. As you'll see there are plenty of wires left over. This is a 94 g fuse block with the 94 harness still attached. I cut out all the unnecessary wires (abs, sir) and spliced in my 79 underhood harness. If you have any questions just let me know

I've put a lot of thought into this and have an elaborate plan to make it happen, including all the parts. I just have yet to get the chance to do the swap.

Each way has pro's an cons. I figured the OEM stuff is pretty robust. While I have had it apart, I have cleaned all the terminals, the bus bar, and any other connections. I threw a little grease on them to hopefully protect for a long time. As far as soldering, I am using metal butt crimps and then soldering them too. The crimps have a little hole in the center that is the stop for the wires. I get soldering down in there and then on each end where the wires go thru. I am pretty sure my crimps are tough as heck, but I figure the solder is the extra insurance.

I have a P Touch labeler and cable marking number stickers. All the wires underhood I am tracing and labeling with the P Touch laminated labels, and all of the wires on the fuse box underneath, I am numbering. I have a diagram of the fuse and relays of what does what and a listing of all the wires in the fuse box. Right now that doesn't seem a big deal, but if something goes in a few years, I probably won't remember any of this. So making records of it is important.
